After failing to sell our long-standing building at 152nd and Metcalf, I decided I needed to occupy it. 6 ½ days per week… my schedule for the last nearly 30 years… was going to kill me so we settled on Orman's 3Day Furniture, Leather and Mattress, open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I decided we'd continue to be better quality, discount-priced, knowledgeable, low pressure. Now the "perfect storm" is threatening our viability.
The City of Overland Park – through its representative code authorities – is requiring me to fix our roof… a "public safety" issue. That's a $190,000 mandate. Our bank – Town & Country Bank at 135th and Roe – is refusing to extend a loan to a new term. (Even when a loan is "performing," it appears that "asset" lending has fallen into disfavor with banking regulators.) That's an even larger number.
All of our money is tied up in terrific home furnishings from great resources… Stickley, Stanley, Bernhardt, Flexsteel, Classic Leather, Old Hickory Tannery, Maria Yee, Hekman, Norwalk, Wood Revival Desk, Cabinet Craftsmen, Wright Table Company. We've got a terrific selection of leather sofas and chairs, mattress floor samples and furniture… a lot of furniture… for most rooms in the house.
I need to turn that wonderful product into cash to meet the aforementioned mandates so I'm doubly MOTIVATED to slash prices so we can free up space and dollars.
As soon as we meet our preset goals, the extraordinary "SALE" stops. Get here early for the best selection. Support your local gunslinger! Buy something and encourage us to provide a healthy, local alternative to the highly advertised, out-of-state, big box hot air machine.
Orman's 3Day Furniture, Leather & Mattress will be open extended days and hours until our preset goals are met. As products are sold off the display floor, new items will be brought from our on site warehouse. Shop early and often. After the goal is met, the sale is over. We intend to revert to our established 3 day (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) open pattern after this event.
